Now that's a grub I'd let crawl around in my oatmeal!

Quirky comments aside, I wish I had some actual critique for you, but every time I look at one of your monsters, I realize real quick that I don't have anything that I could possibly add to the conversation. You've got a solid imagination, and most of your color choices are superb. At least in my opinion. I also quite enjoy the lore and worldbuilding that you've been giving to your creatures. So I guess all I can say is keep doing what you're doing.

And if I'm not mistaken, you've been scouted! I'm quite happy for you. Hopefully, you'll start to see more comments other than mine popping up around these parts.

Take care of yourself and stay safe.

Azpher-Omega responds:

Aaah thank you!! Thats so nice ^o^ Well whenever you have something to say I usually like critiques and questions, and if you ever want to see more worldbuilding my discord has most of my WIP documents! And I hope so too, I love comments like these :]

So far, so good! Those last set of pages left me a little worried that you were about to jump the gun and show too much of your hand. It’d be no fun if you cut to the chase with so little build up. But things seem to be escalating at a pretty steady pace. Good job.

JoJoFlynn responds:

Haha no worries, I wouldn't wanna cut to the fun stuff just yet! We're slowly but surely getting there.
Thanks a lot man!

I'm not sure if this is that ambitious project you were talking about, but regardless this turned out fantastic! If I had one complaint, it would be a particular color choice in the top right image specifically. I was originally going to whine about the background, but then I realized the muted tones help balance it out with the other pieces. And that's when I noticed the third color at the top and bottom of her hair. That is to say that it's hardly noticeable. It blends in a little too much with the rest of her hair, affecting readability. Other than that, you did an amazing job!

As for the animations, even though they're not extravagant or anything, you did a great job there as well! You managed to make each one move in a way that complements their respective image.

Also, don't take what I say with too much weight. I've been in a fist fight with a color wheel for the past 8 hours...

ComatoseAlex responds:

Thank you very much! Yes, this was the ambitious project. It seemed more intimidating in my head but everything fell into place when I started working on it. Ah yes, that third colour in the girl’s hair. You have valid criticism there. I didn’t want to make the hair look orange (more of a golden blonde), so I wanted to use a muted colour but it ended up not being that visible anyway. Hm, maybe looking at some reference pictures of golden blonde hair more carefully would’ve helped there. I’ll remember that for future projects.

Hah, who doesn’t have some problem with colours? I recently have been using some colour palettes to help me with my art. I hope to learn what colours naturally look better that way.

Carp's looking pretty fresh there.

Also, nice sprites. In particular, I like the fellow in the top image, on the far left. Head reminds me of a melting candle.

PugStudio48 responds:

Thanks, his name is Willson.

It's been a while since you've graced us with something from that mind of yours, and I have to say I like it a lot. Whatever it is.

Now when I say, "Whatever it is," that's because I'm having difficulty understanding what I'm looking at... Which is exactly the way I want to feel! With a title like "Elder God," the last thing I want to see is something I can easily understand and digest. When I look at this, it's hard to tell what's organic and what's mechanical, which gives it a lasting appeal. A viewer can't just simply glance at this and move on. It holds a person's attention. If there is one thing I personally don't like about it, I'd say it's the negative space at the top. With all the action happening just beneath it, there's no reason to ever really look there.

All in all, a marvelous piece of work. Excellent job!

Oh, hey! Look at that, an actual critique.

Also, I don't care what you say. Those blue things falling off are jelly beans. >:[

doffu0000 responds:

That critique made me crack up, thank you for taking the time to write that. I plan on investigating this style much further. I like what you said about it not being easy to digest and holding the viewers attention. That's why elder god was the only thing I could come up with to describe it.

This was a completely unplanned piece, I just put on music and drew whatever came to me. It's not always a bad thing but I think in the future it could be better if I approach the canvas with more of a plan.

Those aren't meant to be jelly beans or anything for that matter but yes they definitely look like jelly beans.

Would she be mad if I said her hair looks like a can opener?

ZeroSSOX responds:

well, she can definitely open a can

She wont ban you from her bar for that

But she's not gonna recommend you the daily specials

Look at these goofs! Sitting around a bunch'a rocks in ropes in the middle of winter! Gonna catch a cold.

Goofy comments aside, you did a great job with this. You have every right to be proud of that lighting, you did a wonderful job. And the lighter not going off the first time was a nice touch. I have no major complaints only nitpicks, that are not worth mentioning.

Again, great job.

ComatoseAlex responds:

Ahh man, thank you so much for your comments! The lighting took a while to do, so I'm glad that it came out well.

Your words are very encouraging. It makes me excited to work on a rather ambitious project that will be on its way later. Fingers crossed that I'll be able to finish it.

The freezing cold winter, BRrrrRRr... Not even their steadfast devotion can protect them from such merciless outside elements.

Oh yes, the game about the little girl who wants to play outside and eat blue candy and her dad, who just wants her home in time for dinner. (Stock Audience Laughter™)

A wonderful piece of art inspired by a wonderful game.

Have you dipped your toe into any of the fan games yet?

MoonlightADMIN responds:

not yet, sadly, but i'll do

Do the extra legs on his abdomen act is modified ribs for extra protection? Do they actually still function as legs? Or are they just simply an evolutionary leftover? It is the will of the public to know!

zxc6713 responds:

The legs in the abdomen are degenerate, but they are more like a kind of 'assisted hand'. Sometimes they use it like a bridge!

When I turn the valve, all that comes out are giggles. Please. I am in need of moisture. I will soon wither if not granted access to appropriate liquids. Or at the very least some medium grade lotion. This is not a game. I will perish. Why do all your creations delight in my suffering?

pInkmoth responds:

wow 😂 here, have some moisture 💧💧💧💧

A person just like you. In every way, even.

Bum.
